At the beginning of cake and hot chocolate

Thomas ran back home as fast as he could. He didn't pay any attention to the panic on the streets. He reached the building and ran up the stairs. As soon as he got inside his apartment he slammed the door and collapsed on the floor, trying to catch his breath.

Meg jumped, waking up as soon as she heard the door slam. A low growl emanated from her as she placed a protective arm around the still sleeping Dimitri, he was still weak from her draining his blood earlier and she felt an animal like instinct within her to keep him safe.
Not wanting to move away from Dimitri, but knowing she had to go and see who was there, Meg got out of bed and slipped on her underwear. With blood still on her lips she disappeared silently into the living room, standing in front of Thomas before he even realised she was in the room.

Eventually Thomas noticed that someone else was in the room with him. Still slightly out of breath he lifted his head just enough to know that it was Meg standing in front of him. "I didn't mean to.. wake you," he said as he lowered his head again.

Meg knelt down in front of him, staring at his neck as his veins appeared before her. Just like Dimitri's, she thought as she placed her fingertips against his skin, feeling the blood pumping through them rapidly. She shook her head to try and move her thoughts away from the blood, the hunger that was rising inside her so soon scared her slightly and she let her hand fall to her side once again.

'What's up with you?' she asked casually, judging by the way his heart was racing she knew something had freaked him out.

"I.. uhm.." he started without breath while he kept avoiding looking directly at her. He had never understood how she could walk around like that, so shamelessly. She didn't just live here with Dimitri, it was his apartment too.
"I'm just a bit tired, that's all. I ran home, so that's why.." He paused for a while. "Uhm, could you maybe get me a glass of water?"

'What do I look like, your maid?' she murmured as she looked down, suddenly noticing the blood on his clothes. She cursed under her breath, annoyed that she'd let her hunger distract her from something so important.

'Did someone let you do a little surgery today?' she asked sarcastically as she roughly grabbed his wrist, holding his blood stained hand in front of his face. Her grip on his wrist tightened as she stared at him, not realising just how strong it was.

Thomas avoided looking at his hand as he wrenched himself loose of her grip. He looked at her face without knowing what to say, when he noticed the blood on her lips. He stared at them for a long time. "Uhm, you have.." he stammered, not really sure what to make of it.

'I have what?' she said, speaking louder as she got more annoyed with him, 'spit it out then!'

He didn't pay any attention to her tone. "Blood," he gulped and felt dizzy when he once again saw the old man's face before his eyes.

'I know where mine came from ..' she started before licking the blood from her lips, 'what about yours?'

"So where did yours come from?" he asked a bit worried, while ignoring her question about the blood on him.

Dimitri woke up feeling slightly groggy, he heard annoyed shouts coming from the living room, knowing exactly who they belonged to, but who is she talking to? he thought as he slowly got out of bed, finding his underwear and a pair of sweatpants so he didn't go out there completely naked.

'Thomas? What's going on out here?' he said slowly, leaning his shoulder against the wall as he started to feel weak again, forgetting that the left side of his neck was covered in blood.

Thomas looked up at Dimitri when he heard his voice. "Dim, are you o.." Thomas started worried when he saw the condition Dimitri was in. But then he noticed that also he had blood on him and froze. Why was it everywhere? He had gotten enough of today, he couldn't take it anymore. Thomas stood up and walked frustrated towards his room.

'Hey ..' he said as Thomas walked towards him, putting a hand on his shoulder to stop him from disappearing when he noticed the blood on him, 'where did that come from?' he asked, nodding towards his clothes.

As he walked away Meg locked the door, making sure they'd have no more strange surprises before walking up to the pair.

'Maybe he'll tell you, because he kept avoiding the subject when I asked him,' she said annoyed as she folded her arms across her chest, waiting for an answer from him.

Thomas looked at Dimitri. What was he supposed to say? He couldn't just tell them that he had killed an old man. He slowly backed away, wondering how he would ever be able to explain what had happened. Not only had he lost himself, he had also turned into an animal. He should have thought about the blood, but now it was too late. As he continued thinking about what to do in this situation, red and white hair started covering his body as he transformed into a fox again. The fox jumped at Dimtri and pushed him to the floor.

Dimitri's eyes widened in shock as he watched his best friend change into something completely different, hitting his head against the floor as he pushed him down.

'Thomas!' he shouted over the snapping of the foxes teeth as he tried to push it off of him, but he was still weak and the fall had made him dizzy, 'it's me Dimitri!'

He kept trying to calm the fox down as red and white flashes of fur clouded his vision, what the hell is going on? he thought, panicking as one of the foxes claws caught him on the shoulder and he started to bleed.

'What just ..' Meg started as she watched the man transform into a fox right in front of her. She stopped for a moment, trying to process what was going on. Only being snapped out of her state when she heard Dimitri's pained cries as the fox attacked him.

'Dimitri!' she shouted as she picked up the fox by the scruff of it's neck and threw it against the wall. She stood over it's body for a moment, staring at it with violence in her eyes before wrapping her hand around it's throat and pinning it against the wall.

The fox was snapping its teeth at Dimtri but whined in pain when Meg picked it up and threw it against the wall. It slowly stood up, getting ready to attack again as Meg pinned it against the wall. It struggled to get free, but soon gave up as it hurt too much. The fox almost stopped moving, only letting out small cries.

Meg chuckled as the animal whimpered in her hand, 'not so tough now are you?' she whispered as she squeezed his throat a little harder.

While still in his fox form Thomas regained consciousness. He looked up at Meg for a moment, before his body transformed back to a human, forcing her to loosen her grip.

Dimitri coughed as he sat up, looking down at his shoulder to see the wound already healing itself. When he heard the foxes cries he looked over in its direction, not knowing whether it was a good idea to let it loose again after what had just happened. But as he watched it transform back into human form he knew it was safe.

'Meg, let him go,' he said as he tried to stand, 'he won't hurt us now.'

Meg begrudgingly removed her hand from his throat, glaring at him for a moment before turning around and helping Dimitri to stand. She walked him over to the sofa and sat him down.

'Are you ok?' she asked, but before she let him answer she turned to face Thomas again, 'and you!' she shouted angrily, 'what the hell was that? He's your best friend ..' She stopped and looked down at his clothes again, 'that blood,' she pointed accusingly at Thomas, 'did this happen before?'

Thomas stared blankly towards the couple. How could have let himself attack his best friend like that? When Meg shouted at him he lifted his head slightly, but his vision was blurry, not focusing on anything. When she asked about the blood he just nodded slowly.
After a few moments he folded his arms around his legs and rested his head on his knees, trying to figure out what was going on and what he could do about it.

Dimitri watched him as he nodded, he couldn't believe his best friend would hurt someone like that. Then again, none of this was believable..

'Was it someone we knew?' he asked as he leaned back, trying to stop from feeling dizzy again.
